Alyce Is Back…

The stores are now back up!

We had a wonderful #RoadTrip and I’ll leave a few pics of it here! So much fun on the #GulfCoast in #Mississippi.

Store Vacation

Alyce In Thunderland Ebay and Etsy Shops are Closed for Vacation. We will be reopening on April 6, 2018.

This gives me a few days to get the orders out before I take a little road trip!

Enjoy your Spring Break!

Happy Mail

Over the last few months I’ve met so many awesome new people through Snail Mail.

Look on Instagram for #PenPalRevolution #PenPals or #HappyMail and you can have a happy mailbox every week.

I love pen pals, paper swaps (ephemera, stickers, planner goodies, etc…)

If anyone wants a pen pal or a swap buddy from New Orleans, Louisiana drop me a line.

Here’s a few pics of some recent outgoings and incoming.

U.S Residents Only at this time!

Dear Social Security Worker…

I know you are overworked and underpaid. I know you are tired. I know the phone calls and the appointments will never end, but please try to be patient and kind.

When someone must call or visit the social security office, it’s out of complete necessity. Maybe they are retired and need to apply for benefits. Maybe they just lost a parent and need to let you know to stop their checks. Or maybe they’re like me and lost a spouse, at 29 years old, and was suddenly left alone with 3 small children and no life insurance because who thinks of that in their 20’s.

When I call, I am always sure to be patient and kind so I only ask that you do the same. I’m sorry I didn’t understand what “beneficiary benefits” meant and that you had to explain it to me. I’m sorry I began crying on the phone. And finally I’m sorry that you felt the need to tell me in an annoyed tone, “I don’t have for this” and then hang up on me.

This was 10 years ago and to this day whenever I have to call or visit social security for some reason or another over the years, it still makes me sick to my stomach…because of the one rude worker that was too busy that day to “do her job”.

I am writing about this now because I needed to get a form for my child’s school last week and I apparently either spoke to the same woman or her twin. She literally said to me in a similar annoyed tone… “I don’t have time for this”. Then the phone “magically disconnected” after I was on hold for almost 2 hours and then interacting with her for about 2 minutes.

Needless to say, I just had to drive to the nearest office and take care of what I needed in person, which went quite smoothly. I’m pretty sure the man upstairs knew I needed a break.

Please be kind. Please be patient.

Creepy Weird BARBIE

Creepy Barbie Junk Journal Scrap Packs are now up in the Etsy shop.

These are very limited. Handmade. 40 or more pieces per pack gives you a lot to work with!

You Can Fly!

I just added some beautiful Peter Pan Scrap Packs to the Etsy store.

Each set is hand curated and made to order.

If you love to junk journal, scrapbook, or even just use for stationery / happy mail, these vintage Disney lovelies will surely be a favorite.

I include envelopes, hand made tags, vintage book pages, die cuts, a bookmark, and so much more. Click the picture below to go directly to the store.

I’m working on some vintage kitchen scrap packs tonight. They should be ready for listing by tomorrow.

Instacart Side Hustle

Instacart just made it’s debut here in New Orleans, Louisiana and I had to give it a try.

I LOVE grocery shopping. The app is easy to navigate although I did have it crash once or twice and had to restart my phone to finish an order.

I did my first run earlier this evening and it was definitely a good first run. I picked up a 3 hour shift. I kind of ran about and did errands in the vicinity, and whenever my Instacart Alert chimed in, I just drove to the store it directed me to, found and scanned the items on the list and gave the cashier my Instacart payment card to pay. I found the directions to the customer’s address very accurate and quick.

All in all, a good way to spend a few hours that I wasn’t doing anything and made some money.

If you decide to give it a try, you can use my code for quick access. HCARLOS29175

You can use this code anywhere in the USA to sign up.

That’s all for tonight.

Fitness Journey

Three weeks ago, I challenged myself to a 30 day journey to kick start a healthier me.

I started replacing one meal a day with a Melaleuca shake. Without doing anything else differently, I’ve lost 4 lbs in 3 weeks.

One week to go and we’ll see how this turns out & maybe I’ll even add something else in. Slowly but surely!

The Strawberry is my favorite (it’s like drinking Strawberry Nesquik). The chocolate and vanilla are running a close second.

Until next time,

Blowing Up…

When you quit your day job to go full on online sales, it’s a bit scary and a bit exhilarating.

I quit my day job and decided to see what I could really do if I put ALL of my energy into my online stores and what happened was unreal…

I’m succeeding. Not by a little bit… by an overwhelming amount. I put in about 60 hours a week into all the aspects of my online stores and not only is it paying off, it has exceeded what I imagined.

I bought myself a new toy (The Cricut Air Explore 2) and I haven’t even had a chance to open the box. Boo. Yay. It’s a gift for me, but ideally it was bought after 2 months of research and will help me make things much quicker to be able to fulfill my online orders.

My orders online are keeping me so busy that I haven’t had the chance to play with it yet. Also it took me several pictures to get a decent one of my toy bc well… kids. Lol.

Eldest walks by with food… ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Middle is a Price Is Right Model in the making … ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Finally, a halfway decent pic of the new toy! Lol ⬇️⬇️

Ok there’s still a kid’s head in it, but it’s the best I can do. Mom of three boys. 🤷‍♀️😂
